In civil engineering, concrete raising is a process which attempts to level out an uneven concrete surface through the use of raised beds. Raised beds are a temporary method for leveling a concrete surface, most often one will need to raise a bed of concrete on top of an existing slab. The method of raising concrete involves lowering a large slab down into the lower zone, making sure that the slabs are properly level. The hydraulic machine or manual pump will raise the slab to the correct height and level it out. Once this has been done, the elevated slab is then moved further away from the level surface, to a position where it can be leveled again. The entire process can take a few hours or even a day to complete. Once the concrete raising process has been completed, the surface of the concrete will be completely leveled out. Concrete raising is similar to a process called mudjacking. This process involves using a very thick, viscous substance to raise the mudjacks that are necessary to go on a sloping hillside. In addition to the mudpack, other equipment that may be needed includes concrete pumping equipment, air compressors, and a crane.
