I dislike the term diet because it connotes a short-term attempt to lose weight rather than a lifestyle change. Do you want to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time? The majority of people who read my articles and e-books know me as a science guy who likes to cite studies and apply research to everyday problems like weight loss, bodybuilding, and other health/fitness-related topics. However, it is sometimes necessary to take a step back from the science and consider the big picture in order to help people see the forest for the trees, so to speak. Finding an effective diet that works most of the time must seem as complicated as nuclear physics to most people reading this article. To make matters worse, the above diet scenarios come in a million different variations and combinations, which only adds to the confusion.
